You just woke up after going to sleep exhausted from a long day of family activities and running errands. Your house is a mess and you are already behind. I don’t know about you, but what I really long for in the morning is a clean house. I’m a natural clean freak, and the thought of waking up to a dirty home scares me a little. However, most of you probably just want your home to stay clean after a long day of cleaning which is understandable. I’m going to show you how you can start each day with a clean and tidy home.
Pick up your stuff!
Whether your coat needs to be returned to the coat closet, or you left your dishes from dinner on the table you need to be more responsible for your clutter! Don’t expect someone else to pick up after you, this goes for the whole family, and instead pick up after yourself throughout the day. This will help keep your home tidy longer.
Take the time to make your bed in the morning
Have you ever noticed that your room looks way cleaner when the bed is made? Start making your bed as soon as you get up, and you’ll start your day off on the right foot! Plus, your bed will become even more inviting at the end of a long day.
Don’t get behind on your mail
Mail is by far the #1 cause of clutter in many homes today. As soon as you grab your mail, start going through it and toss any ads or things you don’t need. Put your bills near wherever you pay them, and deal with each item as soon as you can. This will keep your sorting pile low and you’ll be much more in control.
Don’t wait until you can’t fit any more garbage in the bin to take it out
Make it someone’s job to take out the trash. If you have a smaller family, it doesn’t necessarily need to be daily, but someone should be in control of this. After you are done with dinner, or before you leave for work, TAKE OUT THE TRASH! Trash will accumulate quickly and it will make your whole home look messy if it’s overflowing.
When you’re done with a towel, put it in the basket or hang it up
Towels on the floor are the start of clothes, shoes, and everything else being left behind. When you’ve finished bathing, make sure each family member has a place to hang their towels or put a bin in the bathroom for towels.
Do the dishes every single night
Leaving dirty dishes in the sink for the morning is a great way to spend your next morning knee deep in dirty dishes. Instead, make sure to empty your dishwasher each morning, and load the dishes in each night. This will keep your kitchen sink clean and ready to take on breakfast!
Wipe down surfaces every day
Make time in your evening routine to wipe down countertops. This will help keep them free of stains, and it will make your whole home look clean.
Eat all food at the table
You know what happens when you let your family eat in the living room or outside of the designated kitchen area? Someone spills something, you can’t get it out of the carpet, and now there is a stain you can’t get out. It happens, but having food crumbs and other spills throughout your house makes the whole house dirty. This also means you have dishes scattered throughout your home! Keep it simple, and make all eating happen right at the table.
You can wake up to a clean and sparkling home every single day! All you have to do is implement a few new household routines throughout the day, and your home will be clean in no time.
