When we decided to homeschool our child I honestly didn’t know anything about it. I set out on a LONG search to try and find exactly what homeschool is all about. I found so much information that I wasn’t sure where to start! It can be overwhelming!
After sifting through all the information and trying to process it all, I tried to piece together our first official preschool year. That first year was rough and honestly preschool and kindergarten should be the easiest years. What was I doing wrong? What could I have done better?
I wish I had someone to answer these questions for me when I started out. Whether you are just starting out on your homeschool journey or you’ve been at it for a few years, this advice may help you find some encouragement. Here are 3 secrets every homeschooler should know.
#1 There is no such thing as a “perfect” homeschool day! Just go with the flow. Don’t sweat the small stuff and keep pushing forward.
#2 You are enough! You can teach your child. You don’t have to have a degree in teaching to be able to teach your child.
#3 Relax and enjoy your homeschool journey! If things get stressful simply take a step back. The beauty of homeschooling is that you can set your own schedule. If you notice that things are becoming stressful for you or your child then take some time off! Go to the park or out somewhere fun. Recharge your batteries and start fresh the next day.
I am sure that this goes without saying, but this time we have with our children is so precious! Let’s not sweat the small stuff. There is no right or wrong way to run your homeschool. Do what works best for your family. This means: Do what flows most naturally for your family. Do what covers all the requirements with least amount of stress!
