Have you ever thought about when it would be a good time to introduce circuits and electricity to your kids? Well, you can actually start teaching the basic concepts of electricity to your kids much sooner than you might expect.
I received the DIY Elecotro-Dough Kit from Timberdoodle to review for you here. I was very excited to try this because my kiddo is VERY hands on and learns better when he can actually get his hands dirty and really dig into the lesson.
Once we got the kit in the mail and downloaded and printed the Timberdoodle packet (they send this with your purchase) we were ready to get to work!
So first thing we did was go through the downloadable packet that Timberdoodle sent us. I had it printed out since we are more “hands on” that way. It explains what electricity is and how it works. It was a great introduction to electricity and circuits for my 6 year old.
Next, we got out some regular ol’ Play Dough and jumped right in! You can make your own dough or try out what you have on hand. Luckily ours worked just fine so we just went with it.
After testing out a few basic experiments, kiddo really picked up on how the circuits worked and he started to get creative! His favorite one was a circle with a ball in the center. He lined up a bunch of LED lights and was so excited when they all lit up. He is now totally hooked on this set!
